Got up very early to eat my PowerBar that was supposed to fuel me for today’s 2-mile-race in Melbourne Beach, my first race after the Boston Marathon.
Jon and I got there in time to register and warm up properly. Unfortunately he couldn’t run it because his calf still hurt from Tuesday.
I finished 5th female and won my age group in 12:24.
After that we deserved breakfast at Waffle House in Cocoa Beach. It was windy and not very warm, so we didn’t go swim in the ocean but just went home and spent a lazy day in the house and garden.
Before we went out for dinner I ran again for 30 minutes, trying out my new warm-up and cool-down routine of 5 minutes walking and 5 minutes jogging before and reversed – plus some stretching – after each run.
It felt really good not to start running right from our driveway. I think I’ll really keep up with that. It helps my body and mind to get in a better run.
At Norman’s in Cocoa Village I had my traditional margarita and we ate dinner while listening to a live band of high school students playing older music. They were surprisingly good and the margarita was surprisingly strong. We stopped by at Stephanie’s place real quick to say hi to Brownie and went to the Cocoa Expo to see the 8th Annual Space Coast Bull Riding Bash.
Sometimes we need a little redneck feeling and that was guaranteed for that event. I drank a lot more beer and we had lots of fun seeing cowboys being bucked of by wild bulls.
