Time to leave St. Augustine and keep going north. After breakfast at IHOP we continued driving – Jon and me in the car, my parents in the truck – to Georgia. The downtown hotel in Savannah didn’t look very appealing, so we chose another one by the Interstate where we got a really nice big room, more like a mini suite, an indoor pool with hot tub, sauna, and fitness center, a spacious breakfast room and the 8th Airforce Museum right around the corner. It’s not really warm outside, so the indoor pool is a useful feature.
Tuesdays are track days, so Jon and I went to run intervals on a nearby stock-car track. We also visited the museum with my parents and went swimming and relaxed in the hot tub and the sauna.
For dinner we had a Cracker Barrel in close walking distance before we all retired to the hotel room.
