Stephanie had to take Pattie to the clinic in Gainesville to follow up on her glaucoma. That's a long trip, and whole day on the road, so I went with her to keep her company. To make the trip even more worthwhile - she had to take a day off of work anyway - we went to Zolfo Springs in the morning to take a cow horse lesson with her trainer Jack where we learned a lot. She also left her green horse Jade there for some more training.
The trip with the four horses Pattie (for the clinic), Ruby and Brownie (to ride in the lesson) and Jade (for the trainer) took much longer than anticipated. We left Cocoa at around 7 a.m., because I had to go back to her old place to get the forgotten e-pass. A little later we got pulled over for not having the license plate attached to the trailer but got away with a warning because she has all the right papers.
Jack just loves to talk a lot, so we left his place 15 minutes late. Back on the road it didn't take long before one of the tires on the trailer went flat. Luckily that happened right at a gas station, so Stephanie was able to make some friendly guys change it for us. That took a long time, because nobody really knew how to take the broken tire off.
We finally got to Gainesville around 3:30, a half hour late for the three o'clock appointment. We had to wait until four before they were able to see Pattie, learned about treatment options for the glaucoma. I makes it more complicated that the horse is bred and due at the end of April, so they are trying to wait with final treatment until the foal is born.
Back on I-75 at 6 p.m., just one more stop to get gas and fast food, and we were back at the barn and ready to go home at nine. I had planned to run back home, but it was so late already that I just drove.
What a day!
